The International Rural Women’s Day (IRWD) is celebrated annually on the 15th October to recognise the role played by rural women in terms of contributing to food security at household level and overall national economic development. The day is celebrated a day before the World celebrates the World Food Day and this underscores that there is a recognition that without women, food security at household level would be greatly affected. On the 28th of October 2015,
